The Hep Cat and A Gruesome Twosome - Pleasent Nights In The Animation Realm

Previously, I talked about 2 Bob Clampett cartoons. I'm doing it once again.

Starting off first with The Hep Cat (1942). It's a cartoon that is the best cartoon that isn't a masterpiece.

I'm willing to talk about the color palette the most in this cartoon because everything about the palette to it is absolutely perfect to me.

What I really like about this cartoon is how unique it is. It may not be overly slapstick or gag heavy, but I do like the generic cat and dog design in this.

You can give off the warmth and nighttime aesthetic to it already.

The white, peachy, black combo is not only appealing but feels nostalgic.

I only ever felt like I been out in the city at night a few times so far, I remember going to baseball games late night with my parents and after the game, we would walk and explore. Such good times.

This background is amazing. Look at that little can too.

Bob Clampett was always best with exaggerated animation. He has more smears and energy to his cartoons than others.

Not only that, but he was a master of keeping it simple, and comedic just like Tex Avery.

I could say more about this short but there's not much to it besides it's just fun.

Also have to mention that this is the best background in film history.

Look at this!

I get the feeling that these cartoons were mostly there for me for a couple of years. I just haven't seen them on TV or YouTube that much.

While coming back to watching these however, there's something so "full of life" with these cartoons than today's. Most of the animations I have seen felt more poetic and adventurous.

The short films are more, may I excuse the pun, "shorter" than past time, and there's more of a journey to the animation like it having a TV show, or it being in full screen.

I think why I prefer these cartoons alot more it's because they're more straightforward.
I find the more modern animations to be too impracticable at times.

Now, onto the second cartoon, A Gruesome Twosome, this actually has a title card, it looks nice and showcases the cat characters we find truly hilarious.

The reason why I'm comparing this to The Hep Cat it's because it does have the nighttime scenery it has.

Not only that but it's funny, such a distraction and more enjoyable than the other short.

It's in my Top 20 favorite Looney Tunes right there with The Dover Boys, Hot Cross Bunny and Duck Amuck.

Seriously, I can thank the animators for guiding me to animated frames that look so spirited and original.

Bob Clampett's truly well structured cartoons during this time period has had an impact on me ever since I watched a few of his cartoons for the first time. I remember watching cartoons and my preferred style was always the quirky, and uncomplicated ones.

Something like Spongebob Squarepants and Elmo's World truly driven me insane over the course of my early childhood to a tween.

This certainly does not go for deep story-telling or meaningful drama at all, but who cares? It's easily appealing and coherent in of itself.

Fabulous!!!

This is my favorite version of Tweety. He's more sadistic and quick than his slow, cutesy side Freleng made him into.

I love how awkward and funny Tweety talks in these cartoons.

I honestly still don't know how I was fully drawn to these cartoons until I was a teenager. I loved colors and wacky energy like this.

Tweety appearing in frame while the cats fall is easily the best bit.

I also love that boom sound effect and all the sudden Tweety jumps.

The colors in this scene hit right back to what my mom and dad liked when we were at Grandma's house for the first 3 years of my life.

They probably loved the wicked designs and colors like this.

I would think that my parents would let me watch the classic characters when I was little, but I was never interested in them.

I knew that someday, I would be invested with the classic cartoons, I immediately became a better artist throughout it.

I seriously miss the cel art era. When I was born there was cartoons that were made in Flash, and while I think it's cute, it certainly gets exhausting really fast. It's just the same proportions and facial expressions.

This cartoon is fantastic. People don't really love it as much as I do, which I can see why. This cartoon can be a little too cartoony. Like with Tweety's squeaky singing and over the top shaking when something chaotic happens.

But I love those cartoons. It's what makes an animated short really distracting and entertaining. I mean you see me liking the late 30s Donald Duck cartoons, and Tex Avery MGM shorts. You may think I'm a goofball, but i'm rather quiet and easygoing myself, just saying.

Except me to be obsessed with this wacky style of animation for a very long time now.
