Artmania Girls

Today I couldn't stop drawing and thinking about these characters I created.

These were made quite recently. About two weeks ago. I first designed these ladies as concept art. You can find them by clicking the link.

Yeah, it wasn't that long ago. I wanted to sorta make another comedy trio, and I actually tried to create the characters to make them more appealing and memorable just like Szac and Dredd.

This is the final product of the three girls.

And fully colorized.

These characters might appear more often on my blog. When I first created some of my more iconic characters, they were more abstract and clumsy, and I wasn't aware of real acting or the classification of appeal yet but when I finally took a dive into critiques and the medium of art, I was improving my artistic abilities.

Here's some sketches and below it are their info and personalities.

For now I'll simply call them The Artmania Girls mainly because they could go for a match between these fine men.

Returning to The Space Uromos

I was recently checking out some of my very first posts I ever created specifically on this blog and one particular post was The Space Uromos, I forgot I even designed these little cuties.

These things were like merchandising appeal, it looked simple and had different distinct colors to each one of them. I designed these all the way back in 2023 while I was watching weird Looney Tunes cartoons.

Remember those shorts where a random out of nowhere scene shows celebrities as objects or animals? My experience with Looney Tunes back then was restless. I could not keep my mind off of it for a couple years.

The picture above shows a few familiar faces, at least in my own words and perspective. Sam And Ralph is obvious. The uromo on the top right is an Italian performer named Totò who I presumably liked for a short time.

These are concepts of other uromos I drawn back in June of 2023, they were inspired by the gremlins from Russian Rhapsody and woolies from Bubsy 3D, a game that's known for being hated amongst the video game industry. I never played it. I don't own a Playstation 1 at all, but I do love the cutscenes.

They were extremely easy to draw, heck you don't even need to draw basic construction to design them.

I also wanted to draw classic hollywood actors and actresses as uromos because I was obsessed with those type of cartoons back then. I used to watch Hollywood Steps Out a hundred times. The actors that are in the picture are James Cagney, William Powell, Humphrey Bogart and Eddie Cantor.

This was just a standard sketch time session and these were about to be actual real products.

I'm not trying to say that I belong in the wrong decade but I'm glad that I somehow knew what style of cinema I should really crave and be influenced by the most.

This is the planet that they are teleported and live in. The background of the galaxy is inspired by my love for the Hubble galaxy pictures. I remember in 9th grade living systems class, I learned about them and the picture themselves looked rich and gorgeous. Here's some examples.

Aren't these just great?

While I was still in school, I made a ton of new ones. Hope you like them!

Here's the old original Space Uromos post from a while back.

August Drawings

Tomorrow will be the 1st anniversary of my exploration blog, so I'll definitely be making something special then.

For now, Day 364, I'll just give you drawings.

I made a new trio, Marinette, a panda who is quite reserved and private, Thea who is emotional but understanding, and Fennica, a highly productive and hard-working fox.

Another recently added character I created is Ox Fisher's dog companion. She's a brown poodle with a pink bow.

Next is some random character sketches.

Another selection of Wolf and Cauliflower drawings.

Now lastly 2 extra digital artworks I did on my phone.

This drawing of Szac I did was inspired by Bill Peet's art especially the ones he did for Song of The South.

My Own Musical Movie + Inspirations

Some say you can't go back to the past, and while that is true, I don't I should immensely avoid it especially with sides of history and good ol' Hollywood entertainment.

I'm all for the old stuff, collecting books, magazines, listening to music is my jam. And last December I fully planned out a Christmas project that stars my main characters. Throughout the year, I came up with ways my characters could act in various musicals.

I have listened to about 200 songs from the Golden Age of Music (1929-1958) and I could see how different these songs were than what came after.

When I watched shows like The Backyardigans, I noticed how jazzy and classy the soundtrack was. They were composed by Evan Lurie, he's great, and truly made the episodes work.

When I first listened to songs from Glenn Miller, Cab Calloway and so much more musicians, I had no idea that it was where it originated from. The lyrics were also more understandable and creatively smooth. I don't think you could ever see groups of musicians like Tony Pastor or The Merry Macs pull something this easily captivating ever again, yet they pull it off like they're not afraid and it somehow left not quite alot of recognition. Both these musicians in my opinion, are up there with more legendary artists from the 30s-40s in my opinion.

With what songs I came up with so far, it's Razzle-Me-Dazzle, from my Spring Life post, and christmas songs such as I Know I'll Get There sung by Truffles the Tree, and Walkin' In The Snow by Dredd The Moose.

I have decided what feature film name sounds fair. "No Excuses". It stars Szac alongside other one-off characters.

It's not trying to go for a deep, complex and thrilling story or anything and it's definitely not going to push old cliche boundaries like overly talkative characters that are useless and not helpful throughout the film.

I have watched musical movies, and they are more drawn to me than most other genres.

Now I'm not expecting everything to come across as happy energy and chirpy. In fact I like to have some emotional staple or seriousness to my ideas.

And you know most successful musicals do that.

I've been watching more clips from musicals more than watching the actual movies, and that's mostly by going on Instagram and YouTube. In fact I've been more pleased with entertainers like Carmen Miranda, Betty Hutton and Robert Preston.

I love musicals because dancing is really hard to do, honestly seeing people move gracefully, and creating songs is actually really hard to make it enjoyable to audiences, Singin' In The Rain, On The Town and Royal Wedding were all astounding for it's time.

Here's a female lead I actually created named Anna Bell. It's a challenge to draw realistic humans, but I'm still studying and honestly its not the hardest thing in the world, but it is one character I like to mention.

Now while knowing when to create a somewhat coherent plot, I think if it's on levels like The Three Caballeros or other Wartime Disney movies, it might not be worth everyone's taste. Myself, I really like those movies like Melody Time and Make Mine Music because they were supposed to be shorts mixed with special effects, comedic characters and different scenarios all packed into one feature film.

Promise me, I know how to come up with a simple concept, and usually it takes time, but it's fun once you go along with it. Besides, movies that tend to go for this style of telling isn't the worst cinema you'll ever see. Gore, long pauses, and dull clip-shows are worse.

I love the cartoon sequence from King Of Jazz (1930). It's a great movie, big fan of Paul Whiteman stuff especially with the Rhythm Boys. This was known for being the first use of two-strip technicolor in animation. It looks beautiful for 1930 as well as the other live-action musical sequences.

I always wanted to learn more about the world of animation and animals, because people seem to be interested in watching anthropomorphic animal characters more than humans. I completely understand that because after going through watching all 63 Disney movies, the Revival Era had more human protagonists, and I was kinda getting sick of it. I would love to draw more animals and creatures but now I drew a lion. Hopefully this is fine.

Musicals sometimes add in a song that feels nothing like the certain title or plot of the movie, but there was such a funny and amusing charm to them like Triplets from The Band Wagon.

If anything make it sound pleasent and fun to pat out the movie's runtime.

More Summer Drawings

Promise me I'll make an interesting post very soon, but for now, I'd like to post some more art.

This is one of my created cats, Cupid. He's sorta similar to Lucifer from Cinderella, you can tell by his sinister smile. I thought I'd make this cuz it's International Cat Day.

What I enjoy about Disney Live Action remakes is how they are either more story-oriented or just look hideously unpleasant I could barely see anything. I almost think every remake they done was unnecessary, but not Lady and The Tramp. I actually watched a bit of it and I kinda like it more than the 1955 version. There's more of a slower-pace and Lady actually has a personality and gets more screen-time.

I just love to study drawing realistically detailed proportions on animals even if it turns out to be inaccurate and poor to the original screencaps. I was actually impressed with some of the sketches I drew.

While I really didn't like the dog pound characters except for Peg, I'll admit they are really fun to draw and I love how they each one of them has different species. I was waiting to see what modern Disney would splash their creativity to create these characters more realistically and a bit soulless. It's actually fun. I also liked when Jock sounded more feminine in this version of the movie.

One of my favorite Disney characters are The Brer Gang, they were really fun to draw. I love their tricks and energetic personalities. I love Brer Rabbit's face when he gets tied up.

This is a great expression.

Here's something fun I made. The top selection is just Henry Jetsy drawings, but I had to write something funny for Dredd to say and this is him reading a pack of fan-mail. You'll get the joke if your a true Snow White fan.

I love drawing birds especially if I want to make them more tropical and avant-garde.

In the next few upcoming posts I want to talk about Sam and Ralph again because they have the best backgrounds and moments in all of Looney Tunes.

This is the last picture for today. This is something I wanted to fully invent like I did with the Artmania Visual Guide last February. This is called Pajama Party, every Friday. Do any Sprout fans remember The Goodnight Show and how calm and gentle it was? This is similar but with one key difference, more enjoyable entertainment. I usually didn't stay up watching the shows that would come on late night. Usually they played Berenstain Bears, 64 Zoo Lane, and I guess Pajanimals, but I was heavily relying more on my sleeping habits so it wasn't always the case to be watching those shows.

Friday Out On The Farm

Today was an interesting day, I went out and went to a farm, shopping and got pumpkins. I was drawing concepts of an actual mascot to the ...
