My Own Musical Movie + Inspirations

Some say you can't go back to the past, and while that is true, I don't I should immensely avoid it especially with sides of history and good ol' Hollywood entertainment.

I'm all for the old stuff, collecting books, magazines, listening to music is my jam. And last December I fully planned out a Christmas project that stars my main characters. Throughout the year, I came up with ways my characters could act in various musicals.

I have listened to about 200 songs from the Golden Age of Music (1929-1958) and I could see how different these songs were than what came after.

When I watched shows like The Backyardigans, I noticed how jazzy and classy the soundtrack was. They were composed by Evan Lurie, he's great, and truly made the episodes work.

When I first listened to songs from Glenn Miller, Cab Calloway and so much more musicians, I had no idea that it was where it originated from. The lyrics were also more understandable and creatively smooth. I don't think you could ever see groups of musicians like Tony Pastor or The Merry Macs pull something this easily captivating ever again, yet they pull it off like they're not afraid and it somehow left not quite alot of recognition. Both these musicians in my opinion, are up there with more legendary artists from the 30s-40s in my opinion.

With what songs I came up with so far, it's Razzle-Me-Dazzle, from my Spring Life post, and christmas songs such as I Know I'll Get There sung by Truffles the Tree, and Walkin' In The Snow by Dredd The Moose.

I have decided what feature film name sounds fair. "No Excuses". It stars Szac alongside other one-off characters.

It's not trying to go for a deep, complex and thrilling story or anything and it's definitely not going to push old cliche boundaries like overly talkative characters that are useless and not helpful throughout the film.

I have watched musical movies, and they are more drawn to me than most other genres.

Now I'm not expecting everything to come across as happy energy and chirpy. In fact I like to have some emotional staple or seriousness to my ideas.

And you know most successful musicals do that.

I've been watching more clips from musicals more than watching the actual movies, and that's mostly by going on Instagram and YouTube. In fact I've been more pleased with entertainers like Carmen Miranda, Betty Hutton and Robert Preston.

I love musicals because dancing is really hard to do, honestly seeing people move gracefully, and creating songs is actually really hard to make it enjoyable to audiences, Singin' In The Rain, On The Town and Royal Wedding were all astounding for it's time.

Here's a female lead I actually created named Anna Bell. It's a challenge to draw realistic humans, but I'm still studying and honestly its not the hardest thing in the world, but it is one character I like to mention.

Now while knowing when to create a somewhat coherent plot, I think if it's on levels like The Three Caballeros or other Wartime Disney movies, it might not be worth everyone's taste. Myself, I really like those movies like Melody Time and Make Mine Music because they were supposed to be shorts mixed with special effects, comedic characters and different scenarios all packed into one feature film.

Promise me, I know how to come up with a simple concept, and usually it takes time, but it's fun once you go along with it. Besides, movies that tend to go for this style of telling isn't the worst cinema you'll ever see. Gore, long pauses, and dull clip-shows are worse.

I love the cartoon sequence from King Of Jazz (1930). It's a great movie, big fan of Paul Whiteman stuff especially with the Rhythm Boys. This was known for being the first use of two-strip technicolor in animation. It looks beautiful for 1930 as well as the other live-action musical sequences.

I always wanted to learn more about the world of animation and animals, because people seem to be interested in watching anthropomorphic animal characters more than humans. I completely understand that because after going through watching all 63 Disney movies, the Revival Era had more human protagonists, and I was kinda getting sick of it. I would love to draw more animals and creatures but now I drew a lion. Hopefully this is fine.

Musicals sometimes add in a song that feels nothing like the certain title or plot of the movie, but there was such a funny and amusing charm to them like Triplets from The Band Wagon.

If anything make it sound pleasent and fun to pat out the movie's runtime.
