Mickey Mouse is officially 96 years old today. I'm glad to celebrate him on a huge tribute since I'm starting to love the classic Disney animation and characters.
Now I was kinda mixed if I wanted to celebrate Mickey's birthday on November 18th since Steamboat Willie was released on that day but it isn't his first apperance. His first appearance was in Plane Crazy (1928) but I actually looked into it for research on why Mickey's Steamboat Willie gets recognition the most and it's that Steamboat Willie was the first Mickey short to be distributed and it was actually shot and released earlier.
Mickey has been a character that's always been evolving the most and his cartoons will always be iconic and remembered for generations to come.
Whether it would be the good ones
Or the ones I would say are dull.
To me, Mickey Mouse started to get better. His cartoons at the start were mostly simple if not that energetic and then became more appealing and amusing when he paired with Pluto, Donald and Goofy.
He was just so huge and iconic that he spawned countless merchandise, TV shows and a variety of different styles for him and his characters. Not all of them to me were likeable, but alot were made with passion. House Of Mouse for example, the people who worked on that show probably knew how funny the classic disney shorts were and they were more than just a fairytale.
We would all assume that Walt Disney was the one who created Mickey Mouse but no I would say that's a complete lie. Have you heard of Ub Iwerks? Well basically he's much cooler than Walt and in my opinion I believe he had more impact on creating the mouse than Walt Disney ever did.
Oh wait I forgot to mention, there is this perfect cartoon to watch on his birthday called Mickey's Birthday Party (1942) and I absolutely loved it. Definitely admire the Riley Thomson Mickey alot with the dancing scenes.
It's kinda sad that Mickey Mouse is kinda cyberbullied nowadays as an evil mascot even though Mickey himself didn't do anything wrong whatsoever. I know than Disney has its haunting secrets and racism but no matter what I will always love that shear passion and artwork that goes into Disney's shorts and movies, I don't care if Disney makes me mad or offended as long as it's making people happy and entertaining, characters like Mickey Mouse can hold a successful impact. Characters like Bugs Bunny might hold my heart more but if Mickey didn't exist, the world basically would've been alot different and I'm glad to see people as of now liking these cartoons again.
I didn't love Mickey at first but just looking into him and his personality I can tell he's one of my personal cartoon heroes. He's just a good-natured, normal, playful character.
Happy Birthday Mickey 🎂
You are an animation legend. ✨️
