The 1930s was the best decade for animation.
The 1940s was the best decade for music.
The 1960s was the best decade for picture books.
And the 1900s-1910s were considered the best decade for comic strips.
I'm willing to talk about something that kinda influenced me. Yes. It's in the earlier days of publishing comic strips.
The drawings were really amazing and had alot of potential. If I was growing up around this time period like the early 1910s, I would look at these pictures and buy myself comics all the time. They probably might've influenced early cartoonists.
What I really enjoy about these is that they have really fun character designs.
Especially the animals. The dog's design in the picture is appealing.
This one is probably my favorite comic strips. The guy's stretched out legs, get me every time I look at it.
Also coming from a Gen Z, the writing makes sense and adds the charm to the strip. It's certainly thousands of times better than this
The fact that these comic strips were made a century ago feels insane.
Nowadays comic strips are like this. It's interesting but to me, it doesn't hold up the charm as back in the 20th century.
Garfield for example was more appealing and funny back in the 80s than nowadays. It's still funny now but the illustrations were kinda boring and redundant.
Back then when I was little, I didn't care and never grew up on something old and vintage. But when I grew up and my mind was trying to feel it all, I loved the vintage stuff. I loved animation in the 30s-50s and I loved the charm and comfort of classic hollywood actors/actresses.
BONUS 💥
I did some of my own comics.
NEXT...
It's time to go to the nostalgic routes of my first drawings and sketches of my main characters in the Artmania series.
