About José Carioca

 

José Carioca is not only one of my favorite Disney characters, but he's probably one of the best cartoon characters of all time. I have alot to talk about with this legendary character.

My first experiences with this guy was obviously in the movie The Three Caballeros, but there was something about him that made him so cool, so fresh and unique than any other character in Disney.

You can look into his earlier designs and model sheets and he was such a immortal character. He had stellar expressions and lively movement.

His first apperance was in the movie Saludos Amigos and he was already fantastic. This character's dances were too good and had so much infleunce on me I could want to animate like this.

His next move was with The Three Caballeros, one of my favorite Disney movies, and it kept on getting better for him. 

There was more adventure and way more personality to José and that's when I started to adore him.

Of course he appeared alongside with Donald. But there was also Panchito who was such a cool and fantastic character that was too equal with José in terms of how i love these guys.

José has had an influence on me ever since I drawn my artmania characters and it made me realize, I didn't love Disney back then but I started to love it for this guy alone. I started to love how classic Disney looked and the stories were just awesome and adventurous. It fitted my mood.

José also had a little bit of laid-back energy to his character which is nice.

A few years later he would be in Melody Time with Donald and The Aracuan Bird. The song, Blame It On The Samba is too good and the animation was just so perfect. He would later appear in modern Disney shows. Just comes to show you he was in fact unforgotten and loved.

I haven't fully experience all of José's appearances in the Disney Canon, but he grew on me so quickly than the other characters Disney has made.
