I actually created something that might lead to success, at least in terms of my drawing career.
This show airs every Friday to the kiddies and adult audience. The host of the show, Cran Melon introduces everything we should know about these anthropomorphic citizens before the laughter starts.
There's alot to say about Dutcher's bossy attitude and Ben's relaxed hardworking nature.
But let's go back even further than that.
This is my biggest project yet.
The Artmania Story
When I first had a potential on drawing the Artmania crew.
It was all the way back in 2021 when i was 14, 9th grade to be believed.
I was still really young. I was more tough and creative but I was always chaotic and zany, and I often described myself as a laid-back loner with a disordered mind.
I was always interesting in high school but education to me felt worse.
When that happened, I sorta felt like this.
I think it was all because of COVID-19. When I had virtual school, I immediately broke my innocence and became more turbulent.
I was drawing more, more and more and was obsessed with it. I couldn't keep up with freshman algebra and engineering.
My brain was alot different than other people's.
Some people said to me
"Accept the work! You can do this!"
My brain feels like it could die with all of this sh*t.
(This picture was authorized and it came from my school)
This is how braindead I am with this stuff.
I don't understand why I feel so hot-tempered when I see this stuff on my screen. I think it's because me, myself feels like it isn't logical and its a bunch of fantasy.
That picture you seen was actually in my 12th grade but let me tell you back then in 9th grade, it was like this too.
Man, if teachers gave us this in 2nd grade, I would freak out, I would lose my insanity. That's literal child abuse.
But then, something unexpected was coming out of my mind. When I started high school, I was still obsessed with coming up with cartoon characters. I made characters already like Szac, Dredd and Noble Wilkerson.
I wanted to make my own animated series of these characters.
I made a total of 14 main characters to partaken in the animated show.
Only 5 of them I still use and still exist.
I did so much to these characters especially with Dredd and Szac. They may had some poorly aged designs but I did manage to actually have something that will change my drawing skills from now on.
These characters felt like they were going to be timeless and memorable like the classic cartoons.
And by that time, I was immediately drawn to the style of classic animation already like Looney Tunes.
When I was 14, I thought Rabbit Fire was the funniest cartoon ever made.
In December of 2021, I managed to make more of my iconic creations but then I created something that would even load the artmania canon even more impactful.
It was the comedic duo, Dutcher and Ben Obvious.
Sadly I don't have the first drawing but I remember it was like this even though I drew this back in 2023.
They sorta resemblance to Babbit and Catstello from A Tale Of Two Kitties (1942).
And what's so funny about it was that these guys were parodies of Abbott and Costello and back then I didn't knew what an "Abbott and Costello" even was so this was new to me and I was instantly drawn to it.
And there, 2021 was over. What a great year for drawing. 2022 hit and I was still stuck in school, but I was still overly distracted by drawing until summer vacation, I was SO ready to see what I can invent next.
At this time, I was watching The Great Piggy Bank Robbery (1946) and I thought it was the best thing ever.
And believe it or not, I made some characters that actually made the spotlight.
You can see for yourself.
I had one of the best summer vacations I ever experienced. And it all came the same from here.
After a few names to tackle out, I finally started to call it "Artmania" I first used it in various digital arts I made back in 2020.
It fits really well.
It represents expression, creativity, passion for art.
It's perfect.
Part 2 tomorrow. 🤫
