2025 Is Coming...

Today is New Years Eve and the final day of 2024. Finally we come to a close. This was one of the hardest years I ever faced in my entire life but it was also the best for what I have experienced mostly on social media etc. I mean I had Letterboxd and this blog so what's not to love. This year I faced throughout what adult life would be and man I wasn't ready for it. I had an internship which was alright. Definitely really chill for the most part, and I did face against having an interview with some adults at my high school. That was nothing special mostly because it went out of nowhere. And I have to say it was definitely quick. Didn't felt like it dragged on.

OK. Let me talk about the beginning of what 2024 was like for me. It started off normal as always, still finishing off 10th grade in internal rage. But not only was it bad to finish but I did reshapen my personality and tastes a little more. I really did not have any interest in liking Tom and Jerry and Disney shorts back then but when I discovered Preston Blair and watching the actual shorts, I started to love them, I was inspired more by classic animation and I became more of an old soul. I started experiencing more of the classics, Three Stooges, Gene Kelly, Cab Calloway, Laurel And Hardy and many more. I definitely had the best summer vacation in a long time, I became less secretive about my stuff and became more open with my tastes with people.

But when 12th grade came around, things would make a big impact on me, I was taken part on making virtue drawings every month, and I absolutely hated how school is nowadays. I used to think school was kinda fun but nowadays feels like a torture room. I have autism and ADHD and to me the subjects feel completely broken and dispirited. It's certainly no hope that I have to pass every quarter which is just exhausting. Teachers and the entire staff of the school nowadays only care about grades and while it's not necessarily bad to care for stuff like that, only caring about it is a travesty since besides school, work and film studios nowadays only care about money and not enough care about talent and heart. I do have to say that money is important but society literally takes it to a million. It's being way too sensitive and serious nowadays that people need to actually calm down. It's legitimately not the end of the world and for me I have experienced of what the past was and tell me I wished it was still like it.

December hit rock bottom. I was not in my best mood at the start of the month, in fact I was in immediate stress and anger, it's probably because of the cold season getting in. Also speaking of stress and anger, one day I was so pissed off of my algebra work and how painful it was that I literally put a calculator in the trash, a few days later a message was brought up on the calculator thing and I knew it was my fault. I felt really bad, I felt guilt and coldhearted inside, at least I didn't got suspended, not that I actually could've wished I did. By that time, I took my drawings at a different light and became more obsessed with doodling and not worrying about the world around me. It was at winter break, I could finally rest. I didn't have the best Christmas ever but it was definitely something.

2024 would've been the absolute worst year but with my blog, and me being more down to earth than usual, I could say this year was kind of a mixed bag. Has alot of good but also ALOT of bad too.

Hopefully 2025 will be slightly better, but just only slightly, I will never know what will be thrown at my face.

Golden Age Of Disney Movies (1937-1942) RANKED!

Yes. I watched all the first 5 Disney movies from the era of the golden age. (1937-1942).

This era was really interesting. The animation is definitely memorable in this era and it's by far the best in terms of its aesthetics like backgrounds and color palette.

So what you will all expect, I will rank all of these from Worst to Best.

Let's get started with my least favorite.

5

Fantasia (1940)

Yeah. Kinda shocking isn't it? Alot of people say that this is the best from the golden age era, but to me this felt like the least enjoyable out of the bunch. This isn't bad by all means, I think this movie is really good, but it's not one I would want to experience again. I did think some of the segments didn't fit my watch style, but it still has that superb quality of playful and energetic animation for almost all of it. I really liked Rite Of Spring the best mostly because I never seen dinosaurs and lava drawn this beautifully. Even for 1940, this is a true work of art even if I don't find it a masterpiece.

8.5/10

4

Pinocchio (1940)

This one is really good. For the 2nd movie ever made by Disney this is absolutely masterful for it's time. It also has some really relatable characters like Jiminy Cricket, he's hilarious and I also liked Honest John's voice. For an animated movie aimed to all audiences, this can get challenging sometimes and some of the parts like the bit with the donkeys actually gave me the chills, but in a good way. Some of the moments in here are kinda not watchable in my taste, and I wished the whale scene was alot more quicker and intense but this is absolutely brilliant and well told from start to finish.

9/10

3

Bambi (1942)

In terms of backgrounds and levels of calmness this is probably the best movie to watch in the disney canon. I thought this movie was going to be mid before I watched it but after watching it, it was really heartwarming and cute to the point that I couldn't stop thinking about this film. I loved the story. Bambi growing up and learning how to be alive and face the most intense out in nature. For the most part while I was watching, this film felt similar to The Lion King (1994). They pretty much have the same ending too. I do have to say Bambi is a little better, but I don't really want to say Lion King did it worse since both movies are classics. This has stunning music, calm and peaceful visuals and I thought the skunk, Flower was hilarious and the best moments in the movie.

9.5/10

2

Dumbo (1941)

A really watchable and underrated classic by Disney. I would assume some people say that this is their least favorite from the era but to me it's one of their best. I really like how this movie feels more shorter than the others yet it tells a very cute and inspiring story. To me this felt like Pinocchio but way more structured. I thought Timothy Q Mouse was really nice and helpful, yet he's serious towards Dumbo's enemies. He's becoming one of my favorite characters and the songs for the most part are really good especially the final bit with the crows singing. Yeah, people say that the crows in this movie are offensive but I thought they were funny and full of spirit. This one is near close to becoming a masterpiece and I definitely had a good time watching this one.

9.5/10

And finally the best golden age disney movie is...

1

Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs (1937)

What can I say? It's Snow White. I thought this film was absolutely charming, timeless and really iconic for alot of reasons. Some people say this is a bit dated, but for me, NO.... I admire this film so much. The seven dwarfs are not only hilarious and have so much personality, but they were also helpful and smart that they helped Snow White become less alone and guided. This movie isn't just a stereotypical guy and girl movie, it's more than that. Also the fakeout death wasn't meant to be pointless since the story said otherwise what would happen if Snow White came back alive. The prince and the queen as well were well-written and memorable. I would go all day talking about what I love about this movie because there's absolutely no flaws to it whatsoever. I'm kinda pissed off on what's happening to these characters nowadays. Disney is now remaking this classic and just by looking at the trailer, it's not awful, but it's definitely going to be pitiful for alot of audiences.

10/10

Well, I hope you liked my rankings and some people reading this might actually want to take a look at some of these movies.

After watching all 5 of these, I just wish Disney could make more 2D animated films again. It sucks that all they do nowadays is make live action versions just for the sake of money. I still think their 3D entries are solid but man it stinks that we're now living in a generation where animation studios don't care about passion and creativity as much as they used to anymore.

I really hope we see a new era where the Disney movies we get will be full of new stories and spirit. The recent one as of writing is Moana 2 which is a sequel which is kinda sad but hey maybe it was okay to some people.

Next I will be ranking all the war-time disney movies but I did see Make Mine Music (1946) was not on Disney Plus. I wonder why.
It would probably make good on my DVD collection if I buy it.

That's about it for now, I will be posting more on my blog. This year is almost closing so I will be definitely on board by then to make another post!

Mike The Dog Series

This is my proudest achieving character I made. A dog. Mike The Dog.

Mike is a dog with steal, he rarely feels weak and is always up for a bone.

When making these cartoons I want them to be similar to the Pluto cartoons in classic disney days. They weren't anything special but they were interesting and it did inspire me to make cartoons like this. It's kinda easy.

What the Pluto cartoons didn't have enough of is well, funny stuff going on in the shorts. I'm not expecting anything funny all the time but I think the Pluto cartoons weren't the highest effort of trying to gain humor. I would say Cold Storage (1950) was the one that gotten the most impact outta me.

I'm not saying these cartoons are all bad. I do think almost all of them are watchable and entertaining.

They had some good ideas with these cartoons like Pluto going to the zoo, singing like Sinatra, sleepwalking etc.

They also have some solid theatrical posters, so that's a plus.

I definitely wanted to make the Mike cartoons like this. Have some unique plots and make it zany and fast.

(sometimes The Worm Turns (1937) levels of fast)

List of Mike The Dog shorts

Duty Dog - Mike The Dog goes to pet camp and becomes the guard dog and completes responsibilities. However, when he sleeps he suddenly sees a southern mosquito landing on his back, biting him violently and gets suspended at the camp for causing a mess.

Lantern Dog - Mike explores a picnic table outside with lanterns. He messes around with them and gets into alot of chaos. People notice his mess and decides to put up a Chinese New Year celebration.

The Dognapper - Mike searches for a bone until he gets kidnapped by the one and only Ox Fisher.

Mike And The Martians - In a similar vain to Jumpin' Jupiter (1955), Mike sleeps in his normal doghouse until he is sent in space by martians with a UFO and wakes up in Mars.

The Piano Lesson - Mike sees himself living normal with his pet owner. The pet owner gets a piano sent to his house. He however has plans outside. So while on that, Mike tests and practices playing the instrument. He then seeks an annoying grasshopper ruining his lesson and causes chaos making the pet owner mad.

Mike The Mutineer - Mike gets hired in the pirate's ship but however causes alot of messes in the area making the ship almost sink, but not entirely as Mike saves the day.

Spinning The Wheel - On Valentine's Day, Mike goes out of town to go to an amusement park, he plans to go on the Tunnel of Love, but says "No Pets Allowed" in fact all the rides say no dogs allowed except for the spinning wheel.

Mike will be an interesting character in the Artmania series. And he will definitely have a solid impact giving that silent characters are becoming more popular nowadays.

Merry Christmas! 🎄

100th post!!!

💯

Merry Christmas to all the people who have been reading my blog since late August. I certainly had a mixed year myself, but I'm willing to talk about it in a few days.

I have got alot of cool stuff today so I'm willing to send you pictures.

Enjoy! 🎄

I wash my hands all the time so I got soap.

Every Christmas Eve, I usually get one present, so this year, I got a DVD.

I had a Looney Tunes Calendar for 2024, now it's Disney in 2025.

Speaking of Disney, I got the best types of books, the ultimate visual guides. Looney Tunes has this, and it is awesome.

The 70s were interesting for cartoons that's for sure. The Jetsons and Yogi Bear weren't that popular in the 70s though. Don't know why there here.

Team Umizoomi was my childhood and I should have had a plush toy of a character I grew up with.

These are interesting. I first seen these within advertisements on Facebook and they looked so cute and my style that I wanted to buy them.

They're called TinyShinyHineys.

Apparently when I looked into them, they have these gold shiny butts on their back. Okay then....

But who cares? I liked their designs and they felt like mystery minis so what I got were interesting, they got cards as well.

This book is fantastic. It has the looks behind Disney animation. I love everything about Classic Disney's animation style. I adore stuff like Snow White, Ichabod and Mr. Toad, Jungle Book, and Three Caballeros. So this is going to be fun to check out in the future.

I also got vintage books and those are always amazing. Mickey and The Magic Cloak in particular feels inspiring.
I also have to think the Pinocchio one is like what the movie is so I gotta see if I want to watch the movie first or read the book.

I got a shirt of my favorite animated characters.

I finally got it.

I always wanted this book for so long. This is important and I'm so happy because the pages are really fun to look at.

And after all that gift wrapping, I watched a little bit of the Abbott And Costello Christmas Show.

It was very funny. It was so cool to see The Nicholas Brothers in this.

I hope you all had a fantastic christmas, I was waiting for it for so long and here we are.

I will see you all next time, we're back to normal until New Years Eve starts.

Angel And Devil Side
