The films I tend to love so much is the musicals, mostly involved by cartoon characters, Katnip Kollege is one my favorite Looney Tunes shorts. And I started to love these even more. I feel for joy in life and refuse to worry too much.
The most underrated era has to be the early Merrie Melodies cartoons. Not all of them are solid fun, I mean heck there are Merrie Melodies shorts in this time period I consider the worst ever. But when they shine, they shine gold. The songs are catchy and they feel like really exceptional music videos.
The first of the Merrie Melodies short films was called Lady, Play Your Mandolin (1931). Surprisingly this was released on my birthday.
It's main character was named Foxy who definitely relates to Mickey Mouse. I'm not gonna lie, this short is over the top insanity and it feels more watchable than some of the early 30s Mickey shorts.
1932 was still going really good for Merrie Melodies, these short films were absolutely fun to watch. By far my favorite of these shorts was Freddy The Freshman (1932). The dance scenes had to be mind-blown to someone back then.
I had some influence with Rhythm In The Bow's scene with the train. This cartoon turns 90 this month and I'm willing to give this cartoon another watch. It isn't special but it's certainly got it's moments.
Heading further 5 years later, Merrie Melodies felt like how it was back in the early 30s, it felt joyful, it refused to not feel emotional, it was fun, it had a sense of free spirit and that was with Hobo Gadget Band (1939). Pinto Colvig, one of my favorite Disney actors is in it.
Fagin's Freshman starts off cutesy until it's gets really good with it's music video, We're Working Our Way Thru College, it's pretty catchy.
I would say Merrie Melodies stopped doing musical like cartoons when Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck were the main focus in the classic era. When Merrie Melodies would show up back in the 40s and 50s, it wouldn't be like how Fagin's Freshman and Hobo Gadget Band was. But whatever the title of the series, it's timeless.
I feel for other music based films like with Classic Disney. The Three Caballeros really helped guide me to free-spirited animation dancing.
I also really enjoy the Fleischer Studios Cartoons. They are the most interesting series. I would say their cartoons were extremely better than some of the early 30s Disney cartoons. The characters and music are really fun and easy to follow.
A few cartoons I loved the most were The Dancing Fool (1932), it has some fantastic animation, I Heard (1933), has some soothing singing, Bimbo's Initation (1931), a fast-paced, and awesome cartoon that needs more recognition, and later cartoon called Small Fry (1939), the song itself is too good and I love the final minute of it with the dark backgrounds and horrifying looking fish.
Other interests is music videos involved by classic singers and musicians. There are alot of awesome ones like Glenn Miller's Kalamazoo. I would love to watch it's movie Orchestra Wives sometime in the future, since Glenn Miller defined band music.
My other favorite type of films I tend to enjoy are cartoons that have extremely appealing animal designs, Kitty Kornered for example, Classic Disney Movies, what can I say, it's Disney. Love it or hate it, they changed animation for life and I love them.
And mostly classic comedians and slapstick.
Three Stooges, Laurel And Hardy and Abbott And Costello.
I love cinema, I love classic animation, and I enjoy seeing other people's talent on screen. Hopefully you enjoy reading all of this. Since in the future, I want to make cartoons like this and avoid the censors.
