I'm talking about one of Daffy's best cartoons, better than Duck Amuck.
It's The Great Piggy Bank Robbery!
The reason why I wanted to watch this so badly it's because i seen a few clips of the short film. And when he started saying "WHY DON'T HE GET HERE?" I needed to watch it immediately and it changed my life. I was around 14 when I first seen the cartoon.
Daffy Duck is a huge fan of Dick Tracy obviously, i mean you can literally see the expressions he makes. Daffy then punches himself by mistake and dreams about being Dick Tracy, named Duck Twacy.
I remember watching the scene where Daffy is calling on phones and I was observing animated frames and Daffy's acting. The smearing frames are really good.
The animators are absolute geniuses. Animation is not like this anymore. We now have flash animation and emotional shorts that don't feel lively within it's characters. These were in 1946. That's 78 years ago as of writing this.
It's such an easy and pleasant cartoon to watch. I pretty much never get sick of it myself especially since it's going for a nighttime aesthetic.
Daffy's first monster he meets is Mouse Man, and he has some really expressive animation.
My favorite is Rubber Head mostly because the monsters that were mentioned are just mostly there. Rubber Head is really interesting.
The fight scene was amazing. I would like to talk about it, but that would take all day and I said it otherwise that it's amazing.
Daffy then finally searches for the piggy banks.
It ends with the most hilarious closings in a Looney Tunes Short. Daffy kisses the piggy bank but then realizes that he had a dream about being Duck Twacy, he actually kisses a pig from a farm and it's so clever I want to learn how to make clever endings like this. It's so funny.
I would highly recommend you watching The Great Piggy Bank Robbery (1946) if you haven't. It's one of my favorite classic cartoons, I love how colorful, expressive and easy to follow it really feels.
