Animated Characters - Threatening/Snarling Teeth

You may have seen animated films whereas an animal shows a display of aggression and predatory expression. I've been loving this stuff lately.

While I draw my own characters, when they get mad or threatening, I always wanted to study these animated frames I chosen here. These 2 frames you see are from One Hundred and One Dalmatians, where both Pongo and Perdita arrive at the house Jasper and Horace kidnap the puppies.

This frames here is great. I love the intimidating fireplace too.

Another great example is from another Disney movie, The Fox And The Hound (1981), this is particularly one of my favorite moments from the film where Tod fights with a vicious and furious bear, I love the set of sharp teeth. It makes the whole action scene more thrilling.

Brer Fox is one of my biggest character inspirations, this is way back in the 40s, where most of the animated characters came across more simple, and rubbery. What I love the most about these scenes in particular is the quick wit and energy it gives off.

In my opinion, if you take away the dramatic and overly emotional, unappealing live action bits in the Song of The South movie, this is one of my favorite Disney films period. I watched almost all of the Brer Rabbit bits and they were fun and well-acted, James Baskett is excellent as Brer Fox, and the bouncy energy of the animation makes it worth a watch in my opinion. They're fully remastered and free to watch on YouTube if your curious.

You can clearly tell that my wolf character is highly influenced by him especially with the close-ups.

The first time I was fully aware of these types of expressions was in the more wacky Bob Clampett cartoons, when I talked about Hare Ribbin (1944). I was fully invested in animators like Rod Scribner back then. I'm not huge on the zany surreal stuff anymore but you can tell I admired it because it was so much different than what I watched beforehand. Those additional details like the wrinkles, the rubbery mouth movements. It was a great short-term experience.

Now here's some drawings based off this topic.
