Favorite Video Games

 

When it comes to entertainment and pop culture, I mostly try to talk about animation, movies and music, but what about video games?

I'm a gamer, not as my biggest hobby as drawing and listening to music of course, but there was a time where I couldn't stop holding a console just because I was invested in a game I was playing. 

If your wanting to know what my favorite video games are, here's a few I genuinely like, whether they bring me back nostalgia or I had the most fun with.

I always loved Spyro's personality and the characters, levels and areas were always memorable and enchanting. The simple platforming and great selection of worlds to explore without being too repetitive or chaotic is what makes a great platformer if you ask me. I tried to play Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy and it wasn't as great, easy to control or fluid as Spyro Reignited Trilogy was. 

This game had loads of fun interesting character designs and truly breathtaking visuals. I beaten the 1st game 120% 2 times, never completed the other two games, but that doesn't stop me from returning once in a while to play this game and loving the heck out of it.

The first video game I ever played was Mario Kart DS. I wasn't fully appealed to stronger graphics and tight controls yet so this was perfect for me. I would love to play this game again because it's very solid, I also played Mario Kart 8 as well, but in my opinion the best Mario Kart game is easily 7.

In my personal opinion, this is one of the best looking games I ever seen, I love the breathtaking variety, from racing in an arabian desert, to the pits of Bowser's Castle, my favorite tracks have always been the Wuhu ones. Maka Wuhu is just absoutely stunning, one of the best tracks in Mario Kart history.

Yeah I know, call me overly sentimental and tender, but I absoutely adore this game. 

Now this, do you know about this? I played this game countlessly when I was little, this game is called Lalaloopsy : Carnival Of Friends. I adored collecting Lalaloopsy dolls back then, so this was perfect. This game could take about an hour to complete, but it's really simple and easy to follow through. I especially love all 5 of the characters you'll be able to control.

Now this is a game I had the most hours spent playing through. I was obsessed with Disney's Magical World. I liked the animated Disney stuff as a kid (still do), and this was honestly spectacular to get as a gift. This game also looked stunning, had excellent selections of activities, like fishing, gardening and decorating a café, but my favorite is easily collecting all 300 cards. This game had lots of things to do from beating enemies with wands, completing quests, and meeting classic characters. I played a little bit of the sequel, was fun but the original holds a special place in my heart.

Lastly, is LittleBigPlanet 3, this game has recieved alot of mixed feelings, it having bugs, glitches and even corrupt data managing to lose alot of progress, but honestly, those are flaws, about 95% of this game is imaginative, and everything you would want in a video game where you could customize your character, create your own levels and interact with hilarious characters. Now I played the 1st and 2nd game, and I was never really interested in them, there was this level in the 2nd game with the robotic chicken, I could never beat that stupid part of the level, I potentially quitted the game after that, but I never had problems with the adventure mode in the 3rd installment. While I never increased popularity with my own created levels, it doesn't mean I had to only focus on myself, I loved playing created levels by other users, it was fun till unfortunately it stopped after the whole LittleBigPlanet franchise shutted down their servers. That was the saddest week for alot of fans including me, but I will never forget this game's awesomeness.

Drawings 6/27/25

 

Reasons as to why I haven't posted for two days was because I was so busy drawing.

Here's some Preston Blair character look-alikes alongside Sovia characters.

This month was a craze of over hundreds of Leland and Roeanne doodles. I love drawing this couple. 

I felt like I mentioned this before in another post but Leland and Roeanne are our modern retelling of musical romance partners from the Golden Age Of Hollywood. 

I not only admire talents like Charisse, and Astaire but I love it more when their dancing, twirling, and whimsical peaceful music is playing in the background.

I miss this style of cinema so much.

I actually fully colored one.

I thought that red was a perfectly good color for his bandana.

Trying To Understand What Being An Animator Is Like - Part 4

 

Welcome back to Trying To Understand What Being An Animator Is Like, this is Part 4.

When it comes to animation especially in the classic golden age, I assumed we all know the masters whether it would be someone like Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston, Rod Scribner or directors like Chuck Jones, Bob Clampett and Tex Avery, all of those talents were surprisingly all men.

Now I have nothing against men, they are great, but I just never really expected to know too much animators who were women, not alot has been credited amongst them. This is what I have recently researched.

Yikes, I'm not kidding, but I recently searched the first ever female Disney animator and her name was Retta Scott, from what I gathered, she worked for Bambi, her animation is really unique and interesting.

As a female myself, I always dreamt being an animator, and bringing back that successful, pleasent and warmth feel of traditional 2D animation from the 30s-50s.

You'd think I wouldn't be able to design a character like these guys?

Drawing characters in this sorta style is really hard to do, but trust me if you can learn about Disney's Illusion Of Life and Preston Blair you'll get it.

The beastly wolf is one of the most distinctive looking characters I've drawn. He doesn't even look like an artmania character, and that's what I love about drawing him. He's also really hard to draw too. You'll have to construct the sphere of the head and practice drawing subtle human-like facial features.

Making a somewhat intriguing villain takes alot of skill, and knowledge, my main rule is to not make the personality seemingly laid-back or feel like their purposefully weak. 

These poses help understand what the wolf's main characteristics are alot easier, usually when I'm drawing a random character, I only focus on facial expressions, but the more I get used to drawing and constructing, I get to do so much more action and nature with it.

The selfish wolf devours his prey to capture the feel of a real ferocious beast.

It's also keen to say I love designing characters that look simple but have alot of construction in them. 

Recently I was experimenting with different types of pencils, I used a red colored pencil, and a normal pencil to sketch the extra details.  

Any similarities?

In a future post, I will be able to draw some classic characters for you guys, for now it's the most iconic and easiest cartoon character to draw in history. 

Usually when I'm watching an animated film, I don't know who at the studio animated which sequence because it just looks all alike, it's unimaginable, nowadays as a hobby, I watch animation reels. 

  

Here's a ton of facial expressions, this might be one of the most useful drawings I ever created, this may be my portfolio.

I know that someday as an old-school styled animator, this will recieve the amount of impact and appeal it gets.

 

The Golden Age Of Hollywood - MGM Studios

 

What I absolutely love about old movies is their timeless appeal and continuing influence on cinema itself, but what's especially so great about them is their certain vibe they're going with, you could get a simple action packed film, a genuinely interesting comedy and best, people dancing with their partners or a group of normal healthy living people.

Last week and this week I've been countlessly watching old hollywood sequences from movies I'm destined to watch in the future. If you were going to tell me what studio has the best films to date it would easily be MGM, all throughout the 30s-60s. Some of my favorite movies are produced by that studio and their color schemes are all gorgeous and creative. I recently watched The Band Wagon and despite some really talkative and interrupted sobbing here and there, this film was absoutely great with a masterful third act.

This is a screencap from that movie. This is what I'm talking about, the visuals. Nowadays I get kinda sick of movies being on that boring 2.55:1 aspect ratio. The 4:3 aspect ratio is my type of appeal.

Technicolor was also at it's best in the midst of the late 40s and 50s. I'm sure this film wouldn't overstay it's welcome if it was B&W cuz I love how films look when it looks real and alive, seriously when I watched some of the scenes in the old MGM films especially On The Town and Easter Parade, the colors looked handsome like I was sucked into the past real world.

They also hired some of the most flawless, fascinating, talented people ever. We got Judy Garland, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Cyd Charisse, Ann Miller, Frank Sinatra, you name it. 

I especially love it when the people I mentioned, two of them are paired together, it makes it even BETTER!

I live with these people, they're influential to me for a reason. I can describe these movies in a few words, they're just sweet, full of joy, and full of spirit, impressive.

This is a picture that perfectly fits with what I said. Look at the people in the background, Don't look directly at Gene, people are just casually walking, experiencing life itself, no phones, just a normal, exciting environment. 

Look at these posters, when you look at them, you'll definitely be able to experience some fun, enthusiasm, and creativity.

MGM was also known for it's best cartoons, Tom and Jerry and Tex Avery.

It must've been a sensation to watch an amusing animated short film filled with slapstick, gags and comedic witty energy before a beautiful, eloquent movie starts playing and everyone is smiling.
