I had a really busy last week, I was exploring way too much these last few days and hey it was fun because I want to talk about another planned movie that came into my imagination. I seem to love characters dancing, having a good time and some sweet old music playing in the background.
My current obsession is Classic Disney films.
I'm still working on the experimental era, it's been pretty good even though you can't beat the oldies.
These type of animations were magical. You couldn't see these type of films from somewhere else, they were all for cool and creative people.
Last December I made ideas for an Artmania Christmas special. It was fun for me to dream about what my special could be about.
Now I'm thinking about creating a spring special. If I can't get these ideas quickly I'll forget them so I'm here giving you the concepts now.
It's one of my favorite seasons alongside Autumn. Summer is just overwhelmingly hot while Winter is depressingly cold.
I've seen alot of movies involving the Spring season like Easter Parade. It's a really awesome movie, you should check it out.
My favorite films tend to be particularly like Easter Parade. Simple dialogue, amazing songs, and incredible actors that fit their roles. So far my favorite movies are On The Town, Singin' In The Rain, White Christmas, Wizard Of Oz, and Mary Poppins. While not all of those I said are perfect, their almost all incredible and worth a watch.
I miss this style of cinema. Unfortunately nowadays all we seem to get is action movies and dramas and while those are all fine, appreciated and respected by fans, it's just upsetting to see that one of the most powerful and most energetic genres of film at that time died out too fast.
That being said there's still hope for creating something passionate and nostalgic for viewers.
I wanted to call this Spring Life. It stars my characters Phillips Bear and Dredd The Moose as they enjoy life in the springtime, and sing songs together. Sounds standard but ey it's what I like in a film.
I heard someone say that dialogue is more faced at adults rather than younger audiences. I'm not too keen on redundant and unreasonable conversations. I think they ruin the movie for me. I watched Casablanca last month and it didn't really fit my style.
There's alot more to love with music movies because everyone likes music.
The cartoon starts with a farm field that Dredd lives in. He lives next to Phillips. Phillips is a real fancy-man. This version of him is more charismatic and absorbed with talent.
I wanted to make my characters act like humans. Sorta anthropomorphic instead of just animals. Every iconic cartoon character has human natural like personalities.
Here's a more colorized version of their outfits. The more color the merrier.
SONGS
What's a music movie without songs? It's gotta have some. Just like my christmas special I managed to think of ideal ones immediately and they all clicked. You can check those out on my blog.
Movies I watched so far like Road To Rio, Summer Stock, and Easter Parade have songs involving two individuals doing a show biz act. I admire stuff like that. Whenever I play a banger song I enjoy, I could imagine my characters dancing to those songs on stage.
My first song was inspired those bizarre but fun sounding songs like Mairzy Doats and the Mary Poppins songs.
I already came up with my own lyrics to it.
Phillips and Dredd both sing in this song. It can't just be one singer. That'll be boring as heck. Let this be a sample of Marizy Doats, it's one of my favorite songs of all time because of how giddy it is. The song came out in 1944. It sounds like heaven when you listen to it just like with 1000+ other old songs.
It's also got some inspiration from The Andrews Sisters. When the sisters sing the first verse of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, it sounds timeless. I remember listening to this song for the first time and was floored by it. I think that song won World War II, I know some songs like the ones involving Bing Crosby probably saved the war too.
Life was sure amusing back in the 40s.
This is a drawing of Dredd in his raincoat and umbrella. As Phillips and Dredd sing, rain pours and tells how important rain is even though everyone seems to hate it.
I love alot of musicians. My favorite ones are the ones that are so proud and efficient in their singing voice. That being Nat King Cole, he isn't a fast singer, but he's amazing nonetheless, Tommy Duncan is just fantastic. I think Gloria Estefan sings really well too as well as Madonna. She sings really fine. I like alot of musicians and I really want my characters to sing just like them.
Before I'm finished with what I'm talking about here, I have one more thing to mention. One of the backgrounds include these types of designs. I don't know who did these but their cute.
While I was watching White Christmas, the army song had all these drawings in the background. I really liked them.
It gave me an idea to have one of the wallpapers pasted with easter animals. I don't know who drew these but they're really talented.
It reminds me of one of my favorite artists, James Swinnerton and Benjamin Rabier. They were the kings of cute creativity back then and for good reason.
