12th Grade School Doodles

Let's take a break on the oldies and focus on the newies.

First is the dancing sketches from a cartoon It's A Cat's Thing where it has inspiration from all sorts of classic cartoons I appreciate.

I would call them animation samples. Just like with music samples. These were inspired by Bugs's meltdown scenes in Tortoise Wins By A Hare. 

I made a bunch of doodles of Floppy. He's described as the old-fashioned trickster. Wouldn't say Bugs Bunny but more or so The Dodo from Porky In Wackyland with those dot eyes.

Assumingly, last autumn, I was experimenting more on what Dredd and Szac's personality would end up being. I sorta sketched them doing on-stage performances. 

Then I did another half where Dredd is portrayed as a medieval knight fighting for life hosted by Ox Fisher played as a Roman emperor.

I seen many versions of this done decently, but with Ox Fisher starring the role, it's like if Billy Gilbert came yelling aggressively to everyone in a gladiator arena. 

I still haven't thought about an actual name to give this clown besides something like Cluster but I don't know. I hate that name alot, apologies to anyone named Cluster, it just doesn't sound pleasing.

These are supposedly storyboards, but they don't have the squares to feel like their ordered correctly.

This is in fact in order and I managed to come up with my intro to the shorts I plan to make, I have a secret love for those smiley face heads, and the short is called Layin' Eggs. The main character, Henrietta Hen is Mr. Cockedee's wife. This has brief inspiration to Tex Avery and Clampett expressions. Y'know, what a classic cartoon should do.

Holy cow, I forgot I made this much duos even since I first drawn my first ones Dutcher and Ben Obvious.

I mean, I love Abbott And Costello, and Laurel and Hardy, so I was just all in it for the two pair cliche in cartoons. 

These are all scrapped ideas of a cat and kangaroo and what I think of just based on the drawings, is that the cat is friends with the kangaroo but wants to eat him. And here the cat is doing all of these Bugs Bunny Rod Scribner expressions.

This was me trying to copy several frames of the black cat in Kitty Kornered saying "Ah! I think I've got it!"

One of the few characters I managed to capture the Looney Tunes style is Ralph Cat. This was definitely made at the start of 12th grade, and just by looking at it, you can see a bunch of changes like the conservative stiff poses and him saying Bye-A like with my first few posts.

Kitty Kornered is one of the best cartoons of all time. When I was 16, I used to replay that beginning part where Porky kicks the cats out of his house and laughing every single time Porky says "four". It seriously gets me every time I hear it. And so does the designs of the characters, they are easy to draw. 

You see Wags Watson, Astro-Cat and Sly C from the Northern Alley Cats, basically the common household pets are all in one drawing. But I did manage to practice drawing those expressions from a Tex Avery cartoon Droopy's Double Trouble. 

Next I wanted to redesign a character I made back when I first designed Dredd and Szac, his name is Karl.

I always have time to revamp some of my characters to make them look original and simple as possible. Back then these guys looked abstract and crinkly as possible, so when I researched into more cartoon studios and Preston Blair I realized that, if you just make your characters look more detailed and full of form and life, people will find it much better to appreciate your work. 

I look into my old work from 2018-2019, and man I'm not happy. Good thing I have this blog so that everyone can freely appreciate how my artwork has improved nowadays.

Start Of 2025 Drawings

 

Since January is half way over and 2025 has just started, I wanted to send over lots and lots of drawings.

Enjoy.

These are my new recent characters I worked on. It's my own versions of The Tortoise and The Hare. Apparently, I planned my first cartoon that I ever finished involving these guys.

But you'll have to wait for another post to see it. 👀 

Another character I made recently is named Bren McGee. He's the smallest bully in the world.

He's supposed to be like Speedy Gonzales who I find annoying. Hopefully you guys don't think this character can make you turn off the TV. 

I made this funny drawing of Mike and Dotts and here Dotts holds up a sign similar to the Tex Avery MGM cartoons that I'm obsessed with.

Szac and Dredd in 20s fashion

My boys Dutcher and Ben Obvious out in town.

Apparently they have a nephew who is supposed to be a Ward Kimball caricature but more anthropomorphic.

I admire this guy's animation alot. He animates the characters so smoothly and the designs mostly involve big heads and rubbery dancing skills.

This is the first time I drew Roger Rabbit and I was having so much fun with it. 

I got into the Preston Blair book and man I been learning new things about animating immediately.

I did a mouse and I traced the final product.

I also did the dog too. I try to not copy all the designs on the book but I think it's important to note that the characters easily fit my style.

Mike The Dog sketches I did. I mostly looked up random thumbnails of Pluto cartoons on YouTube to get inspiration and study. 

My recent love lately has been The Jazz Frogs cartoons. I have a guilty pleasure for those since they involve music and good energy. 

These are probably the best celebrities as animals cartoons I ever saw. 

People can't take a rest when they say that  these are racist because I don't get easily offended by them. I mean come on, they are spoofs of famous black people. What's so stereotypical about it?

Szac and Dredd work decently in show-biz. I wouldn't say it works perfectly but honestly they are a piece of entertainment after all.

Szac is one of my favorite characters, I can imagine him being normal and reserved because he is, but he's also calm and cares about others needs. I learned about this, just because someone may look tough or hard to get to know, you might know they are good people.

I think Artmania should have one-shot cartoons just like Looney Tunes and MGM do.

I made a character named Muriel who is a young burro who wants to be ready to see the real world around him.

I made a model sheet helped by the Preston Blair tutorials.

Of course more human designs. 

《 CARICATURES 》

I always wanted to draw caricatures. I just admired how well-drawn they looked. I remember going to a baseball game with my parents once when I was little and I got a caricature of myself and I was just mind-blown someone could do something like that in less than 20 minutes. And when I was watching those old hollywood cartoons, I wanted to draw some myself. 

Well... except for these types of designs.

YUCK.

First, I made a Peter Lorre drawing. I haven't experienced this guy besides the multiple inspirations from it like Ren Hoek, and in Looney Tunes cartoons like Hair Raising Hare and Birth Of A Notion. But I do like his face. It's easy and fun to draw.

For Elvis's 90th birthday, I drew my own caricature of him. Apparently it's not the best but it does look like him. He's iconic for alot of reasons so that's why I took part in it.

I haven't sketched The Three Stooges in a long time and I wanted to redraw them because they're the funniest people in entertainment. 

While I think The Three Stooges are the the funniest people on Earth, Bing Crosby is the most attractive person in entertainment. I cannot stop thinking about this guy's laid-back faces he throws us on screen. 

Of course I seen a few movies and a documentary on him and it always puts a smile on my face when he just looks reserved as ever. 

I'm one of those people who respects Bing and his soothing music because I seen he's done alot of good deeds and impacted people for many decades.

Frank Sinatra was always a decently good singer to me.

This is supposed to be a model sheet for a music video I wanted to make.

Here's a finished version of him, looking fresh as ever. 

Merry Christmas! 🎄 (2024)

Merry Christmas to all the people who have been reading my blog since late August. I certainly had a mixed year myself, but I'm willing to talk about it in a few days.

I have got alot of cool stuff today so I'm willing to send you pictures.

I wash my hands all the time so I got soap. 

Every Christmas Eve, I usually get one present, so this year, I got a DVD.

I had a Looney Tunes Calendar for 2024, now it's Disney in 2025.

Speaking of Disney, I got the best types of books, the ultimate visual guides. Looney Tunes has this, and it is awesome.

The 70s were interesting for cartoons that's for sure. The Jetsons and Yogi Bear weren't that popular in the 70s though. Don't know why there here. 

Team Umizoomi was my childhood and I should have had a plush toy of a character I grew up with.

These are interesting. I first seen these within advertisements on Facebook and they looked so cute and my style that I wanted to buy them.

They're called TinyShinyHineys. 

Apparently when I looked into them, they have these gold shiny butts on their back. Okay then....

But who cares? I liked their designs and they felt like mystery minis so what I got were interesting, they got cards as well.

This book is fantastic. It has the looks behind Disney animation. I love everything about Classic Disney's animation style. I adore stuff like Snow White, Ichabod and Mr. Toad, and the Three Caballeros. So this is going to be fun to check out in the future.

I also got vintage books and those are always amazing. Mickey and The Magic Cloak in particular feels inspiring.

I also have to think the Pinocchio one is like what the movie is so I gotta see if I want to watch the movie first or read the book.

I got a shirt of my favorite animated characters.

I finally got it.

I always wanted this book for so long. This is important and I'm so happy because the pages are really fun to look at.

And after all that gift wrapping, I watched a little bit of the Abbott And Costello Christmas Show. 

It was very funny. It was so cool to see The Nicholas Brothers in this.

I hope you all had a fantastic christmas, I was waiting for it for so long and here we are. 

I will see you all next time, we're back to normal until New Years Eve starts.
