Merry Christmas! 🎄

Merry Christmas to all the people who have been reading my blog since late August. I certainly had a mixed year myself, but I'm willing to talk about it in a few days.

I have got alot of cool stuff today so I'm willing to send you pictures.

I wash my hands all the time so I got soap. 

Every Christmas Eve, I usually get one present, so this year, I got a DVD.

I had a Looney Tunes Calendar for 2024, now it's Disney in 2025.

Speaking of Disney, I got the best types of books, the ultimate visual guides. Looney Tunes has this, and it is awesome.

The 70s were interesting for cartoons that's for sure. The Jetsons and Yogi Bear weren't that popular in the 70s though. Don't know why there here. 

Team Umizoomi was my childhood and I should have had a plush toy of a character I grew up with.

These are interesting. I first seen these within advertisements on Facebook and they looked so cute and my style that I wanted to buy them.

They're called TinyShinyHineys. 

Apparently when I looked into them, they have these gold shiny butts on their back. Okay then....

But who cares? I liked their designs and they felt like mystery minis so what I got were interesting, they got cards as well.

This book is fantastic. It has the looks behind Disney animation. I love everything about Classic Disney's animation style. I adore stuff like Snow White, Ichabod and Mr. Toad, and the Three Caballeros. So this is going to be fun to check out in the future.

I also got vintage books and those are always amazing. Mickey and The Magic Cloak in particular feels inspiring.

I also have to think the Pinocchio one is like what the movie is so I gotta see if I want to watch the movie first or read the book.

I got a shirt of my favorite animated characters.

I finally got it.

I always wanted this book for so long. This is important and I'm so happy because the pages are really fun to look at.

And after all that gift wrapping, I watched a little bit of the Abbott And Costello Christmas Show. 

It was very funny. It was so cool to see The Nicholas Brothers in this.

I hope you all had a fantastic christmas, I was waiting for it for so long and here we are. 

I will see you all next time, we're back to normal until New Years Eve starts.

What makes this Tom and Jerry cartoon SO GOOD?

First of all gotta love the title cards. Classic Animation Studios always have fun looking title cards before the animation begins.

This was 1941, December 1941. Just when this hit made it to theaters, the United States entered World War II, and was important for the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was a tough time back then but hey we got something good.

It was a heartwarming cartoon about a mouse.

It lived in a peaceful hole with a mousetrap and a block of cheese. 

I feel so nostalgic looking at this background, i think it's because in my thinking, my first christmas I ever had, it was in the basement or in my old bedroom. It wasn't very bright in there. We weren't a fan of big lights. 😆

Just then, Jerry approaches the picture and him being so small, he can experience alot of stuff inside the christmas tree including the purple ornament he gets jumped by.

I like his cute little wave.

The early 1940s Jerry was always the cutest.

After his experience with the ornament, he licks a candy cane and we get to see some more warm colored products.

I forgot to mention the wrapping on the presents themselves. They're amazing. I love the different colors each scene.

I always liked Jerry's concept. People say that Tom and Jerry is so generic. But I think MGM pulled it off very well with it that it became memorable and had gag-heavy moments.

Love the color palette in this shot. 

This was the 3rd official Tom and Jerry cartoon. Both Tom and Jerry weren't that hilarious until Tex Avery stepped into the studio to make the Droopy cartoons and the animation became more thinner. 

But what makes the MGM Cartoons from this era and the ones beforehand good was that they were fresh and really watchable.

Looney Tunes didn't became iconic until The Great Piggy Bank Robbery back in 1946, but in my opinion, before they were watchable and had potential.

The classic cartoons were the master of becoming lively and real like us. The color palette and warmth brings personality to it. 

It isn't just "a cartoon" it's inspiring and smart, reliable, serious and adult.

I admire the warm black background in this scene. 

Also have to mention this cartoon has its impact on a certain meme. 

So... what are my opinions on this short? 

Eh... it's not a masterpiece. There are more hilarious and unemotional cartoons from Tom and Jerry I can recall. But as is, it's fine. I'm not a fan of the final bit where Jerry is in the snow but Tom slowly saves Jerry to unfreeze him but there is a perfect frame in here.

Like I was saying I don't dislike this cartoon at all, I just think there are more decently handled Tom and Jerry and especially other christmas cartoons that have more spirit and energy than this one. 

I'm giving this one an 8/10. A really good cartoon that should be watched. 👍 

Christmas + Normal Stuff

Back at it with posting christmas stuff. But I'm also taking time to post normal stuff too. 

Christmas is one of the most beloved holidays of all time, it's definitely the most popular with what people do to make entertainment.

There is probably over 1,000 christmas films out there and usually over 100 each film studio.

Looney Tunes has had a few christmas films, Bah Humbduck, Bugs Bunny's Christmas Carol, etc.

Disney has a ton of christmas movies.

So why should I make a few films involving the christmas spirit instead of only Spirit Of Christmas?

Snow Land is going to be my first animated short that fits in with the winter season. 

I made a poster about a year ago, this was when I really started to doodle my official licensed characters.

I dreamt on making a music video on dancing polar bears in a igloo shaped polar bear dome. 

The way they dance is inspired by how Donald and Daisy dance in Mr. Duck Steps Out (1940) and Donald's Crime (1945)

While I was searching through images I wanted to paste on my previous post, I saw something like this and it completely caught me off guard.

It was this image and my goodness, this is the funniest character design I ever seen.

People say Claymation is uncomfortable but you can't feel too bad with Will Vinton's work. I have a huge influence on his claymation. He made The Noid who is an extremely appealing character and the strangely cute California Raisins. 

I watched this 2 minute segment and i was mind-blown I haven't watched a ton of animations like this and it takes me back watching the Tex Avery Cartoons.

Look at THIS frame. This is absolutely fantastic. It feels like smear animation but different.

This is kinda rare for a claymation artist to make this stuff cartoony. If you look at Rudolph or Nightmare Before Christmas, it looks really stunning but it doesn't have a ton of zany passion. 

And what makes claymation so fun and exciting to look at nowadays is the gorgeous looking backgrounds. I know 2D and especially 3D animation have beautiful backgrounds but claymation doesn't give enough credit. 

I almost think that Will Vinton's art style captured how I can draw since these can get stuck in my mind. 

And while on the subject on what christmas cartoons I can make, I made a cute little girl with a soft, warm polar bear around her side.

I want this to be like one of those heartwarming stories like when the girl is out in the cold and has nothing with her but her friend brings her the love and care to give. 

I made a simple model sheet for the girl. I have no suggestions to what her name is yet.

I wanted to name the polar bear Bud Frost. Named after Buddy The Elf and Jack Frost.

To end things off with christmas stuff is my creations, Dan Schemidle and Roger Rick looking reserved as ever, pasted their faces and called it a day only for them to be featured on an Artmania poster.

This is my collection. This is where I put my toys and dvds at. Strange I have a bunch of funko pops since I don't love em. 

After December 24th, things will look different in my room especially my closet.

Minimalism? Bah humbug on that!

I gotta have some fun. Also when bugs try to investigate my room, they will be shocked on the cool stuff I had in the course of 15 years.

Now the books n dvds!

And apparently cards.

They have all the kids as cards but not The Beast. I don't know if I lost it or they didn't make one but what a highlight to the movie. 

They made a fun looking funko pop of him.

In my messy desk filled with drawings is more (good) junk.

I made more cards in the course of my spare time drawing in my desk. I also saw a card of myself when I was like 2 years old.
