Rare Animated Cels

Nothing's been too interesting lately, but I'm glad it's September. I thought let me create a simple post this time and share some cel art, mostly Disney.

It's inspired from Andrea Deja's Deja View blog.

The first one. This is really cute, from Dumbo (1941). I'm pretty sure Dumbo himself was easy to ink and paint because he has less amount of colors than Timothy Q Mouse does. I bet the ink and paint team were really careful trying to noticeably point each color layer Timothy matches with like his clothes.

Here's another from the same movie. I bet the animators in general were having alot of fun drawing sets of rubbery and playful movements while the characters were dancing.

Here's a stellar shot of The Headless Horseman from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (1949), one of my all-time favorite Disney films, only professionals can pull off expressing the scene from where this took place. Nice colors too.

Something a little more random, but definitely not bizarre as it's different sets of poses not attached to the final product, from Pinocchio. I love the Pleasure Island scenes and I somewhat really like the warm colors of Lampwick here.

Another classic Disney character, Brer Bear, tied up but enjoying and letting loose. This looks clean, and obviously love the atmosphere.

This is an excellent drawing of Tramp from well, Lady and The Tramp (1955). I like how he chews his bone, and has extraordinary amounts of detail.

I heard that painting the more realistic characters like Cinderella were extremely difficult to manage, but it all turns out gorgeous and handsome looking. I really admire the layout to this one. I wonder what's happening outside.

I surprisingly never watched Little Hiawatha, because it's a Silly Symphonies cartoon and it's in Technicolor, so I gotta watch this someday. Anyways, this is cute.

An interesting cel of Donald Duck from the animated short, Clown Of The Jungle (1947). I know this cuz I watched this loads of times also it was drawn by Hal King. My favorite overlooked animators.

Here's a funny cel of Prince Phillip with his horse Samson. I always felt absorbed by how different the animation in Sleeping Beauty looked. Couldn't tell if it was using the same techniques as previous old Disney films or something.

Finally for the Disney cels is from The Ugly Duckling (1939), the lily pads are extremely pleasant and gorgeous, and I like the simplicity. Very appealing.

BONUS 💥

Here is some more animated cels but they're from different franchises. Enjoy.

This Ren and Stimpy cel is just too perfect, from one of my favorite episodes of the show. I also love these designs best. They feel more at ease, and detailed.

This cel brings me back nostalgia. Rock Bottom used to be one of my all-time favorite episodes when I was a kid. The atmosphere, the concept is just impeccable and what made Spongebob just a great show. I talked about Season 1 of Spongebob already. Feel free to check it out.

Here's a neat cel of Sugar Bear from the Sugar Crisp adverts from the 60s-70s.

And finally, I just gotta include one from  Looney Tunes. A personal favorite cartoon of mine, Duck Amuck. I love Chuck Jones's design of Daffy Duck the best, and so is his expressions, very good stuff.

Spongebob Season 1

Spongebob Squarepants was something special to me when I was a kid. This show introduced me to a whole new style of comedy, character personalities and color scheme. My favorite season is the 2nd one, but the best looking season to me will always be the 1st. This was the only season in the entirety of the show to use cel animation.

It was sometime in late 1998-1999, the episodes were made like this. It was also the final years of it's rise before digital computers became the main tool for animation and continued it's presence.

With cel animation, the colors looked more natural, and the characters have more expressive designs.

My favorite episode is Ripped Pants and that has some incredible backgrounds and camera angles in it.

While this season in particular didn't have the most timeless episodes ever, it was one of the more relaxing and grounded seasons, and that's a perfect way to start a show let alone a franchise.

I also have to mention the Bikini Atoll scenes, they made this island look too cartoony nowadays in the newer seasons. This one's my favorite. Love that sunset.

While I love nighttime backgrounds in animation, it was my least favorite parts of the episodes. Maybe it's because it looks so ominous. Barely any houses, just a barbaric environment, not too much lights, but I kinda dig this one with the Krusty Krab.

I also loved the personalities to the actual main characters. Mr. Krabs in particular was at his best in the first season. He wasn't at his most greedy, and he actually was an honest and sincere character to his employees, that being Squidward and Spongebob of course.

This show is what got me into this natural vibe of other cartoons and art. The style of comedy is what got me to Looney Tunes, Animaniacs, and Ren and Stimpy. This show barely had complexity and deep storytelling, and had some amusing jokes, memorable characters and a little variety. I would recommend you watching this show if you haven't. And I think you probably have because it's one of the most popular TV shows of all time.

Some of the other episodes from Season 1 caught me off guard like Rock Bottom with the green cyclops creature. This was the episode that got me more into the actual show.

I want to talk about more shows from my childhood or just anything that has beauty and nature like Spongebob. I already talked about a Disney short, you can click the link to it.

Thank You TV.

THE TV.

MY MAIN HERO.

I was a late 2000s kid and I was proud to be born in August 2007. That was when my biggest influences came in. On August 20th 2007, I was 18 days old, pretty much had finished my days at the hospital and experience what the world was like until I saw a show that ultimately led to an impact in my mind.

It was a show called Yo Gabba Gabba. It was on Nick Jr. and it featured so much amazing talents and had great songs.

One of its talents they had was Chromeo, one of my favorite music bands. Back then this episode aired when I was 2 so I didn't knew what a "chromeo" was. But mom certainly was hyped because she was a fan of it when I was born. I kinda think that I loved Chromeo by then.

But then there was another show that even had more impact.

The Backyardigans. I loved this show. There was so much positives. Sure this show was aimed at younger audiences and it was simple. But who cares? It's awesome. If this show was more aimed at a bigger audience this would've been the best show ever.

Not only did I love this show, but later on when I watched episodes and coming back to them, they had a huge infleunce on how I can create Artmania in of itself. There was adventure after adventure and it felt never-ending. Pablo, Tyrone, Uniqua and the others are all fantastic characters and have unforgettable personalities. It's kinda underrated nowadays and can be seen as Nick Jr's best shows ever.

I haven't mentioned the backgrounds, they are fantastic. Some of them look too real, but it's so lively I simply can't hate it. This show had a huge passion on me.

Of course Spongebob was on Nickelodeon when I was born, how could it not be? I remember having loads of dvds, most of them from Seasons 1-3. I guess I was that obsessed with it.
I still recall the classic episodes as the best TV episodes of all time and while nowadays Spongebob's humor is not that funny and has loads of unnecessary sound effects, I cannot blame them for keeping the show alive. It's that legendary.

Jack's Big Music Show was a show I pretty much loved as well, I just forgot how much I seemingly cared about watching it. I had a DVD of this show and I think I watched all the episodes on it.

I'm glad I came back talking about this show because it is very good. I swear some of the scenes had influence on me. The production is also very nostalgic.

Nick Jr. was the introduction to experiencing and watching stuff and I'm glad I had this channel. Some other shows I loved on the channel were

Fresh Beat Band
Ni Hao Kai Lan
Dora The Explorer
Blues Clues
Bubble Guppies
Team Umizoomi
Wow Wow Wubbzy

Also other channels besides Nick Jr. had shows I really liked. Disney Jr. was another great channel I remember waking up to.

Jake And The Neverland Pirates

Doc McStuffins

Octonauts

I lived for 3 years at Grandma's house with my parents until I moved out on September 2010, just a few years later, another channel changed my life and that was Sprout.

This channel got me hooked. So many amazing content and more adventure. There was the Sunny Side Up Show, I used to wake up everyday and turn on the TV and watch it and it was fantastic. My mom and dad once gave me a birthday card and it looked exactly like how the show did. Just comes to show you how creative my parents are.

By far my favorite show on Sprout was probably Super Why. I was obsessed with this show when I was little, loved the aesthetic, it was educational in a good way, and it even had fairytale references.

This is probably why I love the classic animated shorts involving these types of tales.

Another list of amazing Sprout Shows were

Chloe's Closet
Sesame Street
Justin Time
Pajanimals

Now I want to talk about movies. Now you may be wondering, this isn't TV shows, this is movies. Well I basically had DVDs of these and I did watch these on TV, it's not like I'm talking all shows. Get me? Good 👍

I loved the care bears and I watched the big wish movie ALL THE TIME. I probably had this movie on replay over and over again. I can't blame you just look at how the actual toys look.

I also loved the barbie movies. I even collected the toys. They were the most underrated movie series out there.

I also liked the Madagascar movie and the 2nd film. They were really fun. The designs were also great too.

I'm proud to live in a really amazing time and believe me I had an incredible childhood. I'm so lucky to not live with the skibidi toilet videos and Lankybox videos and just have these charming, fun and amazing cartoons on TV. I haven't started watching YouTube until I was like 10 years old or something.

If it wasn't for these shows, Artmania wouldn't exist. If I had the chance to draw, it wouldn't be as good as with the characters I made.
I would kinda be liking Looney Tunes but then again, what matters in life is what you are controlled in and it's safe to say the most important thing in my life is that I'm happy to be part of it and entertain people with my art.

The future is looking extremely bright and it so ever was at the start.

Friday Out On The Farm

Today was an interesting day, I went out and went to a farm, shopping and got pumpkins. I was drawing concepts of an actual mascot to the ...
